  • Be Your Best Supporter

From a very young age, I learned how to be critical of myself — like many people I know. It came from my parents, of course, who wanted the best for me but also encouraged me to think about how I behave, what I do, and what I don’t.

One mantra I live by now is: “Do things with caution, as if someone is always watching.” To be fair, this mindset helped me in many ways, but in others, it held me back.

Self-criticism can easily become a burden. When we turn into our own harshest critics, even our good moments start to feel trivial. We begin to feel joy only when we achieve something big — and unfortunately, those moments are rare. It’s not that we’re failures; it’s that we’ve built unrealistic expectations of what our abilities should be.

We’re constantly exposed to people who made millions in their twenties, top athletes, charismatic hosts, and global superstars — and somehow, that became our “normal” benchmark for success. But that’s a lie. Those examples are the exception, not the rule. They reflect a mix of rare talent, discipline, opportunity, and relentless effort — things most people never see in their full context.

The truth is, most of life doesn’t happen on the bleeding edge of performance or innovation — nor should it. What truly drives progress, even for those at the top, is a series of small wins repeated over time. They build momentum, confidence, and resilience.

And that’s the key for all of us — the so-called “civilians” who aren’t here to break records or become the next Einstein. We need to learn to celebrate small wins, recognize progress, and create our own systems of positive reinforcement. Instant gratification doesn’t have to come only from scrolling, sugar, or distractions — it can come from acknowledging each step forward, each iteration that keeps us moving.

Without that feedback loop, we burn out. Even if luck or opportunity finds us, we won’t feel fulfilled, because we’ve wired ourselves to never feel “enough.” We’ll chase the next thing, and the next, losing the joy in the process.

To truly grow — and be happy — we have to redefine what success means for us personally.

Before starting anything new, ask yourself honestly:

    • What does success look like for me here?
    • How will I know when I’m winning?
    • Am I competing with someone — and if so, why?

I always remember the story of a young woman who told a world-class violinist, “I would give my whole life to play like you.” He replied, “I did.”

It’s a reminder that to reach the elite level, you have to give your life to something. Most people can’t truly master more than one thing — maybe two, if they’re exceptional — and those who do are the true outliers.

So for the rest of us, the goal is simpler but no less meaningful: to be our best supporters, not our harshest critics — and to find joy in every small step forward.

  • Authenticity Over Aesthetics

One of the most important things I’ve learned about personal style—and life in general—is this: stay aligned with your self-image. The worst choices I’ve ever made, both in style and lifestyle, happened when I tried to impersonate someone else’s way of living or adopt their habits and advice without reflection.

Even when I read thinkers I deeply admire—like Naval or more niche voices like Taleb—it’s nearly impossible to map their lives onto mine. I might agree with many of their ideas, even feel inspired by their worldview, but the context they speak from is often miles away from my own.

There’s a saying that fits perfectly here: “Take advice like medicine—one per day. You wouldn’t take a handful all at once.” It makes total sense. We can pick up useful insights from others, but we also need to filter out what doesn’t suit our reality, goals, or stage of life.

So wear what feels right. Do what feels true. Build from where you stand—not where someone else has already been.

    Stay sharp.

  • Keep the Style, but Dress for the Occasion

One of the things I’ve learned along the way is that you can look silly—even if you’re well-dressed—when your outfit doesn’t suit the occasion. On the flip side, if you underdress, it quickly becomes obvious that something’s off and that you quite literally don’t fit in.

Casual wear is perfect—when the occasion actually calls for it.

I once heard Tom Ford say, “Dressing well is a form of good manners,” and I couldn’t agree more. The key is making sure your outfit aligns with the setting, the event, and the people you’ll be around.

Over the past decade, we’ve seen several major style trends come and go—each one eagerly embraced by the masses. First came the “hipster revolution,” where everyone started grooming and dressing a certain way for every occasion. Then there was the “Guy in the Suit” phase—tight, flashy suits worn absolutely everywhere. And now we’re in the “old money” era, where people are channeling the Mediterranean styles of the rich and famous from the 1950s and ’60s.

Honestly, that’s all fine. I enjoy the aesthetic of many of these looks (aside from the overly arrogant suit persona). But here’s the thing: you can’t dress the same way for every occasion. If you ignore the context, you’ll likely look out of place—no matter how sharp the cut, how perfect the fit, or how bespoke the garment.

If you want to be both stylish and appropriate, start by asking yourself: Where am I going? What will I be doing? Am I aiming to blend in or stand out?

Just like you wouldn’t wear a suit to the gym—it’s simply not made for working out—you shouldn’t wear gym shorts to the office. Context matters.

    Stay well!

  • Novablast 5: A Comfortable and Versatile Sneaker for Sport or Everyday Use

I’ve always been a fan of good running shoes—even long before I took running seriously—because it felt like having a piece of the latest tech on my feet. Back in the day, I’d go for the most colorful pair or the one with some cool extras (remember Nike+?).

ASICS Novablast 5 in Full Black

Somewhere along the way, I stumbled upon my first pair of ASICS Nimbus sneakers, and they felt almost magical—better than I ever expected. They managed to survive the grind of marathon prep and multiple races without letting me down.

This year, I decided to try out the new ASICS Novablast 5, and honestly, I was blown away. The comfort is next-level, and the slightly forward-tilted design gives you the feeling that you’re always ready to start running. The look is also futuristic and sleek. While they might run half a size bigger than most sneakers, they wear extremely well and pair nicely with running pants or shorts.

I went with the all-black version, but there are several great colorways available depending on your style. Overall, I’d say this is a solid pick—one of those sneakers you’ll want to keep grabbing for daily runs or casual wear. I’ll definitely get another pair when I catch them on sale again.

  • Denim Jacket for Spring and Colder Summer Days (and a Few Extra Style Points)

I was never really a fan of denim jackets—at least not until recently. That changed when I picked up a Levi’s piece that had been catching my eye for a while, thanks to its wild stitching on the back and a perfect light bluish wash.

    Levi’s soft blue denim jacket

My main issue with denim jackets used to be the “double denim” look. I often wear jeans, and I never liked how the full denim combo looked on most people. On top of that, I didn’t think denim jackets were that practical for spring’s unpredictable weather—especially when a sudden rain cloud rolls in out of nowhere.

But both of those concerns went out the window with this one. When you get the shade right, the contrast between your jacket and jeans actually works beautifully. And as for the weather? At least near the Mediterranean, where I live, it’s rarely a real problem.

This jacket wears like a sweatshirt—it’s soft, light, and incredibly comfortable. It’s perfect for cool spring mornings, breezy evenings, or even summer days when you need just a touch of warmth without overheating.

Backside of the jacket is totally crazy and I love it

As you can see in the photos, mine’s a bit of a wild one—and I love that about it. It took me a while to figure out Levi’s sizing and all the different cuts they offer, but once I did, I finally started appreciating their denim for real. Still, you don’t need to go for something bold. A clean black or gray denim jacket can be just as versatile and stylish.

Throwing it on instantly makes me feel younger, more relaxed, and just a bit more put together. Sometimes, that’s all you need.

    Cheers!

  • Bomber Jacket + Aviator Shades: A Timeless Combo for Spring

A few weeks back, right before a quick trip to New York, I went on the hunt for something that could keep up with me—a jacket that’s light, versatile, and effortlessly stylish. Enter the Alpha Industries MA-1 TTC: a spring-ready bomber that checks all the boxes.

    Alpha Industries MA-1 TTC

I opted for the lighter, unlined version—perfect for that unpredictable spring weather, whether you’re navigating the breeze in Manhattan or just stepping out for a coffee back home. The clean grey tone brings versatility, while the classic details—the sleeve pocket, ribbed trims, and that signature Alpha patch space—anchor it in timeless bomber style.

But the real finishing touch? A pair of classic gold-and-green Ray-Ban Aviators. Instantly iconic. They bring that “Top Gun” edge without trying too hard—just the right amount of bold.

Style it out with a well-worn pair of Levi’s and some sleek leather sneakers (white or black—your call), and you’ve got a look that’s as functional as it is fresh. Ready for city strolls, airport runs, or wherever the day decides to take you.

It’s effortless. It’s classic. It just works.

    Godspeed.

  • Converse Never Go Out of Style

Over the years, I’ve collected all kinds of sneakers from high-performance running shoes to sleek pairs you can dress up in with a blazer. Yet, no matter how many new styles I try, I always return to one classic: Converse All Stars.

Converse Chuck Taylor All Star Hi Winter Leather Gore-Tex

There’s just something timeless about them. They’re incredibly versatile as you can wear them with almost anything, and they always find a way to blend in while still making a subtle statement. Whether a laid-back look or a bit more styled, they hold their own without trying too hard.

I’m a fan of the Chuck Taylor line, and I love them in basic colors like red or black. Then there are the more unique editions like camo patterns, leather details, or even the Gore-Tex models made for less-than-ideal weather. They all bring something different to the table.

    Converse Chuck 70

Now that spring is in full swing, I’ve been living in my Converse. The updated sole adds a layer of comfort, making them even easier to wear daily. Whether I am out for a walk, grabbing coffee, or enjoying a warm day, they have become my go-to pair.

So, if you haven’t slipped on a pair of Converse All Stars lately, now might be the perfect time. They’re not just sneakers but a style staple that never really left.

    Cheers to the classics.
