Find the Right People for the Long Run

If there’s one piece of advice I would give to others — or remind myself of — it’s the importance of finding the right people to build with over the long term.

In a world where many chase only their own interests, you need to find your people: a crew of like-minded individuals who share the vision of creating something bigger together. People who understand that we have to “bake the cake” before we can enjoy it, instead of tearing it apart from the start.

That’s rare. Many of those you meet will eventually walk away the moment a short-term opportunity looks better. It’s difficult to resist the temptation of short-term wins or stay ethical when incentives are stacked against you. Yet, prioritizing long-term thinking and aligning with people who recognize its value is essential.

Everything else is just noise. The wrong people, the wrong projects — they drain your time and leave you frustrated. Yes, you can still earn and learn from short-term endeavors, but they often wear you down and leave you unfulfilled.

So cut the middlemen. Focus on what you truly want. Find people who can help you build your dreams — or join them in building theirs — with a commitment to the long term. That’s where the real progress, and real meaning, comes from.
